P90X Review

Let me start by saying something that you might not be able to read in all those other positive P90X reviews that try that pretend that you can lose weight in your sleep or with very little work. That is pure fairy tale hype.

The truth is that getting into shape is not easy and the P90X is certainly not an easy program, it is hard work. But the bottom line is that it works and chances are that it will be the best thing you ever do for your health.

I performed this program off and on when I was deployed to Iraq to keep myself in top physical conditioning. I was able to manage this in my free time and it fit my lifestyle because I didn’t have a gym to go work out in.

The instructions are great, easy to understand and follow and you can easily monitor your progress. This is one of the main reasons that P90X kept me going. It is essential to follow instructions in a very well organized system that is proven to work.

The Pros:

So, the question that I am sure is still very much on your mind is what this P90X program involves. Well, for starters you will have to set aside one hour every day to do your workouts. Then you will also have to change your eating habits.

Looking back I can say that, although this may sound like very hard work, it is really a small price to pay to get into better shape. More muscle, better endurance and generally a much healthier you. Your mind will be clearer and you will be able to perform better in all aspects of life.

It is just amazing how your fitness levels affect every other single aspect of your life and that is something that not all P90X reviews will emphasize, but it is very true.

With many other similar programs you will need to invest a fortune in expensive equipment and then you will also need to create the space in your home to store all the usually bulky space-hogging stuff that is exercise equipment.

Most people end up quitting when it all gets boring pretty quickly because they keep on doing exactly the same exercises over and over again.

One of the things I really love about the P90X Extreme Home Fitness Program is the fact that the equipment involved is very simple and inexpensive and it is just amazing what can be achieved with so little. This is a huge bonus and a highlight of any P90X review.

All you need is a resistance band, dumbbells, push up stands, a chair, exercise mat and a small space to do pull ups. These are all things that will hardly take up space in your home and they truly do not cost much.

Of course, the other things you will require are the instructional videos of the program which is a total of 13 DVDs of workouts. You will need 90 days to go through all of them. It is all very organized and you will be able to move from one level to another, always improving and making progress.

That is one thing that helped me stick with this program. It never got boring because I was able to see exactly what kind of progress I was making. And eventually, everyone starts noticing that you have shed that unwanted fat along the way.

The other ingredients in the P90X program include a three-phase nutrition plan, a detailed fitness guide designed to help you get the most out of the P90X workouts, a special DVD that shows you exactly how the whole system works and a calendar to enable you to track your progress.

The Cons:

This program is extremely intense and it may no be suitable for people who are injured or extremely overweight. It may be a better idea to start off with a good cardio program, like Insanity or Insanity Asylum in order to lose enough weight that you can safely perform the exercise routines.

The diet is very strict and clean which is difficult for some people. I can say that I never got hungry because I was eating 5 to 6 meals a day.

There are exercises that target the chest and back including pull ups and pushups that will help burn a lot of calories on the journey of shedding fat and getting into shape fast.

There is also plenty of jump training (plyometrics) that is actually a great cardio routine. Then there is the shoulders and arms routines that are great for helping you make those muscles.

Also, in the 12 DVDs are Yoga workouts which focus on strength training, breathing, and balance workout and so on. Flexibility is a big help in enabling you to quickly improve your physical state.

Then there are the exercise routines for the legs and back. The exercises involved are the squat, lunge and a few others.

You will also find the Kenpo X and Xstretch. The first one is essentially intense cardiovascular routines and based around the Kenpo martial art form.

The X-stretch as the name suggests are stretching exercises that are essential in keeping your fitness levels high.

I personally found them all to be extremely intense but also, surprisingly a lot of fun. But the most fun for me were the core synergistic exercises which target all kinds of different muscles in your body.

As mentioned earlier diet is very important to your success. What you eat is essential to those of you that are looking to lose weight and get into shape.

The nutrition plan consists of three phases namely fat shredder, energy booster and endurance maximizer. It also, includes a “quick meal” guide that allows you to make substitutions like fast food in a pinch. The nutrition guide is detrimental to enhancing my body for all the intense exercises.

The truth is that many folks will need a lot of motivation to get started, but from my experience that is by far the hardest part because once you get started, as hard as the program may be for you initially, it gets to be quite addictive and that makes you want it more.

Just remember to perform the full workouts and stick to the diet plan 100% to see the maximum results in the shortest amount of time possible.
